Girl… finally! I was worried af… Quick… IDKLANG is playing now! Step closer, you’ve just slipped into the haze of their world. Don’t even try to breathe steady, the air is thick with distortion and bass snarls that cut sharper than glass. Where sweetness flips into menace, where trance melts into chaos, where every kick hits like a bruise. Girl… this isn’t calm, this place’s about to blow… I’m dragging you through glitch and shadow, sweat and static, until you can’t tell if you’re dancing or dissolving. Oh god I lost you again… or wait… is that you? ___ IDKLANG is the moniker of the Vienna-based musician, composer, and producer Markus Steinkellner, whose many projects also include Mermaid & Seafruit, Arktis/Air, Jakuzi’s Attempt, and many more. Over the course of the last ten years, they’ve been performing live shows, conceptual improv sessions, and DJ sets around the world; writing music for theatre pieces and dance performances. Their body of work is characterized by highly-energetic compositions that masterfully handle tension and release, oscillating between loud blasts and heartfelt, grandiose melodies. Seamlessly blending genres such as post-punk, witch house, pop or hardcore, IDKLANG crafts post-nihilist outbursts of an erratic mind. Influenced by club music as well as noise or industrial, their music ranges from accelerated, high-energy tracks to haunted drone sceneries, creating the perfect soundtrack for dystopian euphoria.
